Kindergarten is the first tiny step in a big learning journey. We know that Kindergartners are special and they need an environment that nurtures their curious minds and adventurous hearts every day. You’ll find that with us!

Starting in the early years at HVGS sets your child up for sustained success at school – well beyond the Kindy years. If they have older brothers or sisters, the whole family benefits from being part of the same school, too!

Kindy Curriculum

The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) is the framework used to explore the NSW curriculum in a way that supports students’ academic, social, and emotional development.

Designed for children in the ELC and Years K - 6, it encourages curiosity, independence, and a love of learning by connecting different subject areas through real-world themes and experiences.

The PYP helps students build knowledge, skills, and values that will prepare them for success now and in the future, while also supporting their personal growth and wellbeing.

Kindy Transition and Orientation Program

Our comprehensive Kindergarten Orientation and Transition Program settles the nerves and prepares children (and families!) for a seamless transition to big school.

  • Held in in August in the year before your child starts school, our Kindy Connections event, offers a fun and welcoming opportunity to meet other families, connect with future classmates, and get to know our friendly team.
  • Starting in August, our Kindergarten Transition Program runs for approximately six - seven weeks. Families can choose how many sessions they wish their child to attend. We recommend more is best!
  • Students enrolled in our Early Learning Centre also participate in a structured transition program, too.
  • In November, families are invited to join us at Kindergarten Orientation. During orientation, you'll hear all about the practicalities of kindy at HVGS. While parents are in their orientation session, kids will be meeting their teachers and classmates.

Outside of School Care

We have you covered in the afternoons, before school and in the holidays. Outside of School Care, run by TeamKids, is available onsite each weekday for HVGS students K - 6.

For the school holidays, TeamKids runs a vacation care program for HVGS families at the school. Read more

Global Worldview for Kindy students

Although they are only five, our future-focused curriculum readies Kindergarten students for a global future. Read more about how we develop their worldview.

HVGS has provided our daughter with a beautiful start to her first year of school. We have been blown away by the culture and community and she has thrived in every area. HVGS has created a space for her, seen her for who she is and guided her on her learning adventure.
