For many families, Kindergarten is the first tiny step in a big learning journey. We know that Kindies are special and they need an environment that nurtures their curious minds and adventurous hearts every day. You’ll find that with us!
Starting in the early years at HVGS sets your child up for sustained success at school – well beyond the Kindy years. If they have older brothers or sisters, the whole family benefits from being part of the same school, too!
Key Information
Starting in Kindy
We accept children into Kindergarten who will be turning 5 by the end of February, in the year commencing Kindergarten.
Priority is given to children who are turning 6 in the year commencing Kindergarten.
We enrol up to 80 Kindy students each year. Places are highly sought so be sure to contact us early.
How to Enrol
We start enrolment into Kindergarten approximately 15 - 18 months ahead of their commencement date.

Kindy Curriculum
For students to navigate a complex and ever-changing society, it’s important they see themselves as global citizens who are open-minded, thinking about the world around them, taking action for change and contributing to a more economical, peaceful and sustainable world.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) at HVGS uses school-wide pedagogy to better develop Kindy students as inquiring and courageous learners.

Kindy Transition and Orientation Program
Our comprehensive Kindergarten Orientation and Transition Program settles the nerves and prepares children (and families!) for a seamless transition to big school.
- Held in in August in the year before your child starts school, our Kindy Connections event, offers a fun and welcoming opportunity to meet other families, connect with future classmates, and get to know our friendly team.
- Starting in August, our Kindergarten Transition Program runs for approximately six - seven weeks. Families can choose how many sessions they wish their child to attend. We recommend more is best!
- Students enrolled in our Early Learning Centre also participate in a structured transition program, too.
- In November, families are invited to join us at Kindergarten Orientation. During orientation, you'll hear all about the practicalities of kindy at HVGS. While parents are in their orientation session, kids will be meeting their teachers and classmates.

HVGS has provided our daughter with a beautiful start to her first year of school. We have been blown away by the culture and community at the school, and she has thrived in every area. Thank you HVGS for creating a space for our daughter, for seeing her for who she is and for guiding her on her learning adventure.Bella and Michael Kindy Parents
