We value strong, affirming and positive relationships with parents and the wider community. Our inclusive culture is unmistakable, and our family-friendly atmosphere is evident at every stage and every age of your child’s schooling.

Through positive relationships with parents and families, we obtain better student outcomes.

Staff, students and parents form a united community based on shared values and heartfelt care for each other. New parents to the school can be assured of a warm welcome and a friendly network of like-minded friends.

Parents and Carers' Association

Our Parents and Carers' Association are an active and committed team of Parents and Carers who help foster a vibrant and inclusive school community.

The PCA helps bring students, staff and families together to foster our vision for a connected and flourishing community. All HVGS parents are automatically a member of the PCA and every voice matters here.

The Parents and Carers' Association has five core objectives (we call them the '5 C's'):

  • Connection: Promoting and facilitating opportunities for families to connect by organising small and large-scale school events.
  • Communication: Facilitate effective flow of communication between families and the School.
  • Community: Building a strong community to encourage parent involvement, supporting new families, and building connections within the broader Maitland community, where possible.
  • Collaboration: Promoting a culture of collaboration within the School community.
  • Care: Creating opportunities to build supportive lifelong networks amongst parents and carers, promoting the wellbeing of all members of the School community and role modelling behaviours aligned with the School's vision, mission and purpose.

Volunteering

Parents have many opportunities to engage in school life and make a meaningful contribution. Whether assisting with our co-curricular sports program, joining parent reading groups in the Junior School, or volunteering as HSC readers, there are countless ways to get involved and support our vibrant school community.

Giving

As members of a globally-minded community, we inspire all students and families to contribute meaningfully to both local and global causes. Our community embraces various forms of support, from volunteering time and sharing skills to making financial contributions, all aimed at making a positive impact on the lives of others.
